UCTS renews exchange programme MoA with China’s KUTS

-

SIBU: University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS) and China’s Kunming University of Science and Technology ( KUST) have renewed their collaboration on bilateral student exchange programmes.

According to UCTS vicechancellor Prof Datuk Dr Khairuddin Abdul Hamid, both universities signed the first memorandum of agreement (MoA) in February last year.

He points out that the agreement is an extension and the desire of both institutions to continue their mutual engagement in academic programmes.

“The main objective of this MoA is for the establishment of student exchange programme between UCTS and KUTS,” he said prior to the signing ceremony at UCTS Campus here yesterday, which also hosted six delegates from KUTS led by its president Wang Xueqin.

Khairuddin also expressed his hope for the MoA to include an internship programme for students from both universities, as well as to encourage exchange of researches between varsity staff members and also between students.

“We also hope to have a joint conference or seminar at KUTS next year,” he said, adding that the UCTS has been welcoming foreign students under its student exchange programme.

It is learnt that at the moment, there are five students from Taiwan’s Chang Jung Christian University and China’s Wu Yi University undertaking degree programmes at UTCS.

“It is our wish that KUTS could help promote UCTS and encourage students to come and study here, under the MoA,” said Khairuddin.
