SWWS to hold forum on aid, support necessary for primary caregivers

-

KUCHING: Caring for sick relatives is an important part of life, but often it disproportionately falls on women to the extent that it can affect their health and life chances.

In recognising this, Sarawak Women for Women Society ( SWWS) is hosting a forum this Saturday ( Oct 27) to discuss issues and consider the necessary support for those who are the primary carers.

This will be the third topic that SWWS has showcased under its ‘ Women for Progress’ series, and will form a part of the policy recommendations that it will produce in the end.

All members of the public are invited to attend and contribute their ideas during this event, which will feature three speakers.

Fiona Marcus Raja from the Royce Foundation will share her personal journey as a parent, while Dr Ling How Kee will examine the multiple roles that women juggle as carers, focusing on the challenges and costs as well as rewards.

The last speaker will be Gill Raja, who will raise the question on how to improve the situation and whether or not lessons can be learnt from elsewhere.

The forum will take place inside the Chemsain building at Rock Road ( opposite the famous seafood restaurant), with the session to commence at 2pm.

Registration is free and can be done emailing names to SWWS via sarswws@ gmail. com, or sending texts via 0138044 285.
