‘Walk With Me’ event to promote cancer awareness

KUCHING: The ‘Walk With Me for Cancer Awareness’ event will be held on Saturday ( Oct 27) at the Amphitheatre Taman Budaya here starting at 6am covering a distance of 5km.

This event is jointly organised by Society for Cancer Advocacy and Awareness Kuching (SCAN), National Cancer Society Malaysia ( NSCM) Sarawak branch and Sarawak Chi ldren’s Cancer Society (SCCS).

Over 1,500 participants have signed up for the event, 50 per cent more than the initial target.

Assistant Minister of Law, StateFederal Relations and Project Monitoring Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali will flag off the participants.

The organising committee members yesterday present the event T-shirt and pack to her at her office in the DUN complex.

“Participants wil l also get to enjoy some lively warm- up exercises and a lucky draw with attractive prizes to be won,

“The event is held to increase public’s awareness of cancer where each participant will be given information on cancer. There would also be a quiz-based lucky draw as part of the day’s programme to integrate learning on cancer-related knowledge,” said SCAN president Sew Boon Lui.

Participants are reminded to wear their T- shirt to be eligible for the finisher’s medal and bring their quiz sheets to be submitted for the lucky draw.
