JOHOR BAHRU: Developer United Malayan Land Bhd ( UMLand) will build a RM100 million shopping mall in Bandar Seri Alam here with the construction expected to start in the first quarter of next year.

UMLand Seri Alam senior general manager, Township Division Frankie Tan said the Seri Alam Mall project, which was slated for completion in the first quarter of 2021, would feature cinemas, fitness centres, karaoke studios, spas, department stores, and eateries.

“The tenants include TGV Cinemas, Village Grocer, Bread Talk, Box Toast, Morganfield’s, Gogirou Korean BBQ, Pub Irish McGregor’s, and Romantika Home Decor,” he told reporters after the signing of lease agreements with key tenants at the Seri Alam Sales Gallery yesterday.

The ceremony was witnessed by Johor Women and Tourism Development Committee chairman Liow Chai Tung.

Tan said the 46,000-square-foot Seri Alam Mall, which would have over 1,000 parking spaces, would cater to the needs of Bandar Seri Alam and Pasir Gudang with a population of about 220,000 and create about 500 jobs.

The Seri Alam Mall will be the third shopping mall in Seri Alam after Tesco and Today’s Market.

On another development, Tan said UMLand has 323 hectares of land in Bandar Seri Alam to be developed over the next 10 to 15 years.

Housing development will continue to be UMLand’s focus besides mixed-use commercial centres, he added. — Bernama
