‘Sarawak Budget 2019 to reflect GPS governing capabilities’

-

BINTANGOR: The Sarawak Budget 2019 to be presented by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg next month will ref lect the capabilities of Gabungan Parti Sarawak ( GPS) in managing the state.

Assistant Minister of Corporate Affairs Abdullah Saidol said the budget would touch on many things concerning development and community wellbeing in the rural areas.

“I ask that everyone wait for that moment when the chief minister makes the announcement, because from there, you will be able to evaluate things yourself, and as the real benchmark of the Sarawak administration which is led by GPS to administer the development and the future of Sarawak,” he said, when launching Youth Carnival to coincide with Pesta Limau Bintangor, on Tuesday.

The Budget will be tabled during the 8- day State Legislative Assembly Sitting, starting Nov 5.

Abdullah is hopeful that the chief minister would table a better budget than last year’s, especially for rural development.

Abdullah, who is also Semop assemblyman, said his only frustrtaion was that many projects in his constituency, which were previously approved by the previous federal government, were now cancelled without any reason.

“These projects are not the type that would waste money as claimed by DAP Sarawak leaders.

“Projects in the rural areas are not worth in the billions. There’s no major highways to speak of only basic infrastructure projects such as road repair or upgrade, and extending water and electricity supplies.

On the erosion of Sarawak’s rights, he asked that all Sarawakians unite and render their support to the government, which is trying so hard to claim back its rights from the federal government.

He said negotiations with the federal government was not easy, but Sarawak would strive hard to ensure that our voices are heard and respected.

“Negotiations are done professionally and with integrity, without much political agenda.”

He also asked all Sarawakians to support local based political parties such as PBB, SUPP, PRS and PDP which come under the GPS umbrella.

“We can accept our differences in politics but we must unite in affairs that have got something to do with our rights.

“Dont let outside politics inf luence and break us. It is already proven in Peninsular Malaysia that politics can be so messy and rough; that it will divide the people.

“Good politics is when the welfare of the people is the priority, and unity a part of it,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abdullah gave RM5,000 to Kelab Anak Meradong, Kelab Anak Seni Meradong ( as a support to the Pesta Limau programme), Persatuan Petanque Meradong and the organising committee of Pesta Limau Power Boat Race each.

Meradong District Office received RM10,000 as the orgainser of Pesta Limau and another RM50,000 to the Meradong Community Leaders Association ( allocation from chief minister).
