SK St Anne aims to become a full-fledged excellent school
SARIKEI: SK St Anne in its efforts to become a full- f ledged excellent school is giving proper attention to the development of its academic, co- curricular and sports activities in line with the objectives of the national education philosophy.
“Its ( philosophy) plan of action had been comprehensively spelt out in the National Education Blueprint 2 013 - 2 02 5,” said headmaster Joseph Wong Tii Ann at the opening ceremony of the school’s2018 Annual Sports Day held at the Sports Complex here yesterday.
“As requi red und e r the blueprint, a school would be accorded with an excellent status if it attained certain specified mark in its academic and cocurricular activities including sports.
“It was a complete educational package aimed at producing future leaders who are physically, morally and spiritually healthy,” he pointed out.
Wong said the school had also made it a point to put into practice suggestions or plan of actions as recommended in the blueprint as well as encouraging parents and the community in general to be involved in activities organised by schools to achieve the objective.
According to him, schools were encouraged to organise at least seven activities which involved the participation of parents and community such as the annual sports day programme.
The school had consistently performed wel l in the Ujian Peni laian Sekolah Rendah ( U PSR) examinat ion and given the commitment of the teachers, parents and the school management board, he was confident that the school could

excel in co- curricular activities and sports as well.
Wong said this year the school was adjudged champion in state- level STEM Action Song competition and this feat entitled it to represent Sarawak at the national-level competition to be held in Terengganu from Nov 11-14.
“The school team also finished first runners- up in this year’s Action Song competition, second runners-up in Poetry Recitation, Dance and in fourth place in Choral Speaking,” he said, adding several of its athletes were absorbed into the state volleyball and ping pong teams.
It also bagged the state- level Smart School Quali f ication Standard Preservation Award.
The sports day saw 513 pupils divided into four contingents namely Anggerik, Bakung, Cempaka and Dahlia competed in 18 field and 20 track events.
Bakung contingent took the first prize in the march past contest in the opening ceremony while Anggerik, Cempaka and Dahlia contingents were second, third and fourth respectively.
