Asia e University holds its 8th convocation
KUALA LUMPUR: Asia e University’s (AeU) held its 8th convocation for 2662 graduands at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur recently.
The ceremony was attended by families of the graduands from around the world, representatives of foreign embassies from the 34 Asia Cooperation Dialogue ( ACD) countries and stakeholders.
Malaysian graduands numbering 2086 made up 78 per cent of the total while 576 ( 22 per cent) were from Canada, Egypt, Ghana, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, Mauritius, Philippines, Somalia, Sri Lankaand Vietnam.
Out of the total, 815 (31 per cent) took postgraduate programmes while 1,847 ( 69per cent ) took undergraduate programmes.
A total of 18 graduated from AeU’s Doctoral degree programmes, nine obtained PhD ( Business Administration), three in PhD ( Education) and two in PhD ( ICT). The other four obtained the Doctor of Business Administration or DBA.
The international Doctoral graduates are Dr Jacob Benson Aidoo who hails from Ghana, Dr Fazalur Rahman and Dr Latesh Kumar KJ from India, Dr Beefun Roodradeo and Dr Vandana R. Veeraragoo from Mauritius and Dr Nicco Joselito Lopez Tan from Philippines.
One of the five most outstanding graduands who received the AeU prestigious Excellence Awards was Vincent Dairiam, a winner of the Chairman’s Award.
The others were Mahani Zainalfrom Malaysia who graduated with Master of Business Administration,
Sarawakian Leh Siong Lu, a graduate in Master of Education who won the Chairman’s Award and School Award, Lee Chiu Yuan from Johore who won the President’s Award and School Award graduated in Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education,
Adieb Hilmi Widigdo, an Indonesian and a graduate in Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology was the winner of the President’s Award and School Award and Rohani Su, a teacher and a graduate of Bachelor of Education ( Teaching Islamic Studies in Primary School) from Johore who won the President’s Award.
During the ceremony, AeU’s President/CEO Prof Dato Dr Ansary Ahmed congratulated all graduates and their families.
“We salute all of you, those who have overcome immense odds to succeed, or those who, despite their senior years, still found the joy and satisfaction to come back to school.
“I hope that you will continue to be engaged with AeU, connected with your fellow graduates and be a help to our students; be proud of your qualification and fly the AeU flag well wherever you’re practising, and make a positive impact on the community you are in,” he said.
