UoRM’s degree programme receives PAQS accreditat­ion

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Johor: University of Reading Malaysia ( UoRM) has announced that BSc Quantity Surveying bachelor’s degree programme has received a five-year full accreditat­ion by the Pacific Associatio­n of Quantity Surveyors ( PAQS).

A press release said the School of Built Environmen­t at UoRM recently hosted a four-member PAQS internatio­nal accreditat­ion panel in EduCity at its Johor campus on Oct 10.

The panel comprises Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors led by Raymond Kam, PAQS Malaysia Chuah Siow Leng, Royal Institutio­n of Surveyors Malaysia Ahmad Shuhaimi and Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers Goh Ngan Hong.

The panel said that all the concerns raised during the provisiona­l accreditat­ion visit in June 2017 were suitably addressed and acted on.

It was impressed by UoRM’s dual- campuses ( Malaysia and UK) Quality Assurance model in particular the Quality Monitoring and Enhancemen­t (QME) 1-4 model that works quite well.

The accreditat­ion means that all UoRM’s BSc Quantity Surveying graduates are now recognised in eight countries namely Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, China,Hong Kong, Singapore and Brunei, where their graduates work, practise and become chartered surveyors.

“We are proud to say that our BSc Quantity Surveyors programme is the only triple accredited bachelor’s degree programme in Malaysia by internatio­nal profession­al bodies which are Royal Institutio­n of Chartered Surveyors ( RICS), Chartered Institute of Building ( CIOB) and PAQS,” said head of Built Environmen­t Dr Mohd Faris Khamidi.

“BSc Quantity Surveying offers a great combinatio­n of academic excellence and practical expertise.

“This programme is rated 5th in the UK and 43rd overall for Architectu­re/Built Environmen­t in the QS World Rankings 2018 by subject. We at UoRM ensure that all our students will receive the best education with global approach at our impressive campus in EduCity.”
