Inaugural ‘Golden Girls’ tourney attracts 56 senior golfers

MIRI: Susan Yee took 152 strokes ( 36- hole nett) to emerge the Division 1 winner of last weekend’s inaugural Golden Girls gol f tournament at Miri Golf Club.

Alice Repet, two strokes adrift, finished second while Jane Teo was third with 156.

The event was held in conjunctio­n with Miri City Council’s ‘ Visit Miri Year 2018.’

It was the brainchild of event patron Datin Patinggi Puan Sri Datuk Wira Lorna Enan Muloon Chan, wife of former Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri George Chan Hong Nam.

The tournament attracted 56 senior lady golfers aged 50 and above from Sarawak, Sabah and Brunei who competed with contempora­ries in their age category.

An Yong Sook (142), Teo Ai Hung and Lee Jong Ran (149) were the top three in Division 2.

The Division 3 category saw Suraini Rapaiee ( 153), Datin Stella Ainun (157) and Elizabeth Su (159 OCB) taking the first three positions.

Overall gross winner was Rokia Yusof Daud (183) followed by Joan Chin (187) and Patricia Lipang (191).

A gala dinner was held at Imperial Palace Hotel when Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr. George Chan and Mayor Adam Yii presented the prizes.

The 2nd Golden Girls Gol f Tournament will be held in Sarawak Golf Club next year.
