KUCHING: The controversy surrounding the surge in membership of Parti Keadilan Rakyat ( PKR) Julau branch from 603 to more than 13,000 in one day in June deepens with a claim that five names of people who have died are listed in the division membership.

Besides that, three complainants - a pensioner and two businessmen - who are Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak ( Teras) members residing in Julau lodged a report on Monday evening at Sibu Jaya police station on the inclusion of their names in PKR membership list.

According to Teras Julau ( Meluan and Pakan Divisions) spokesman Tony Ambrose Gramong, his three party comrades lodged the complaint to show their unhappiness over the usage of their personal particulars without their consent.

The five deceased persons certainly could not consent and it is wrong to simply use their particulars without their knowledge, said Tony.

“I am not going to disclose the names of the five deceased persons in question because I have to respect the feeling of their family members. But one can always refer to me or others who knew about it” said Tony

“Not all Teras Julau ( Meluan and Pakan divisions) members want to be PKR members. Those who wanted to be PKR members did not mind their names suddenly appearing on the Julau PKR membership status.

Some might not even know their names are being used as they do not have internet access in the remote areas “Tony said.

Tony then urged PKR to put their house in order as their image and reputation is now under public scrutiny.

Tony said abusing people’s name and identity card number online without his or her consent also breaches the Data Protection law.

Few weeks ago another Teras member Kaya Uset denied in the media that he and his family members are PKR Julau members.

Earlier, Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat who is Progressive Democratic Party ( PDP) member made similar complaint in the media.

Last week PKR Sarawak leaders also lodged a complaint at the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission ( MACC) state office here over sudden surge in PKR membership in Julau.

I am not going to disclose the names of the five deceased persons in question because I have to respect the feeling of their family members. But one can always refer to me or others who knew about it. Tony Ambrose Gramong, Teras Julau spokesman
