2,046 operations by S’wak police against illegal gambling
KUCHING: Sarawak police conducted 2,046 operations against illegal gambling activities between January and October this year out of which, 1,985 operations were successful.
In these operations, 2,761 individuals were arrested, and RM760,347 in cash and 669 gambling devices seized.
State CID chief, SAC Denis Leong Soo Kuai said out of the successful operations, 489 were conducted against online gambling, 1,383 against illegal 4D activities, 23 against gambling in common gaming houses, 33 against gambling in public areas, 23 against illegal cockfighting and 34 against illegal betting.

Leong said the joint operations between the police and SEB started in August this year and were intensified in October.
He said 138 premises across the state had their electricity supply disconnected by SEB, with 102 of these for the offence of operating illegal 4D activities and 36 for operating online gambling.
“Besides the ongoing operations against gambling activities, we are also monitoring premises that had their electricity supply disconnected for engaging in illegal gambling activities.
“Those found to have illegally reconnected their power supply will be brought to face the wrath of SEB,” he said and called on the public to continue passing information on illegal gambling activities to the D7 Operations Room at the Sarawak police headquarters ( IPK) by calling 082 274213. — Bernama
