Rep ready to help schools in Meluan

-

JULAU: The Sarawak government is always prepared to address problems affecting schools although it is basically the duty of the federal government.

Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat said therefore helping to improve school facilities in his constituency remains the same despite the change in federal government after the last general election.

He has allocated a part of his annual rural transformation project ( RTP) fund to provide conducive learning environment in schools in his constituency, the latest one being RM300,000 for the building of a new school hall at SK Ulu Entaih here, which he declared open on Wednesday.

He said he would consider the school’s request to replace the old water pipes and build roofed walkways to connect the classrooms for the convenience of the pupils and teachers especially during the rainy season.

“As a former teacher, I fully understand the problems faced by teachers and pupils, not only in the classrooms, but also the poor road condition and lack of electricity or treated water. So, you can count on me for some solutions,” he said at a dinner held in conjunction with the opening of the school hall named after him.

He also announced a RM3,000 grant for the purchase of teaching and learning materials for the school.

Headmaster Hakim Saad, the school’s parent- teacher association chairman Rubin Meling, SAOs Yalin Asan and Henry Gimong were among those present at the dinner.
