Local author meet-and-greet fans at Vivacity

-

KUCHING: Malcolm Mejin, the Sarawakian author of Diary of a Rich Kid, held his second meet-and-greet session at Vivacity Megamall on Saturday after The Spring Mall the previous week.

“This meet-and-greet session was great experience. I got a chance to mingle with wonderful people, learn more about their background stories. We found that we have some things in common and are able to relate to each other. The session wasn’t just about talking about my novel, but sharing our stories,” said Malcolm.

Malcolm wants to inspire a culture of reading and writing in Malaysia, which he thinks is lacking.

“There are two types of people in the world: the ones who love to read, and the ones who don’t. I hope to inspire youths to read, because reading is rewarding, and fun. Reading empowers an individual.”

At the event, Malcolm also encouraged the youths to pursue their passion, be it writing, or sports, or anything that triggers the spark within.

Malcolm will be giving a talk on ‘Chasing Your Dreams’ on Nov 7 at 6pm - 7pm in Museum Cafe & Shop @ The Main Bazaar. Members of the public are invited to the talk. He will be giving another motivational talk at a local school here at a later date.

Diary of a Rich Kid is now available at MPH and Popular bookstores nationwide.
