Ghee Hua to hold ‘Take the Lead’ charity run Nov 25

KUCHING: Ghee Hua Group of Companies will hold its ‘ Take the Lead’ charity run this Nov 25, in celebratio­n of its 50th anniversar­y. Flag- off is expected at 6.30am. Participan­ts will run 5km along the city’s old streets and riverside – spanning from Kuching South City Council ( MBKS) building to Padungan Road, with a turn between Tua Pek Kong Temple and Chinese Museum, along Riverside and Abell Road, before returning to the starting point.

Ghee Hua Group of Companies, which started with sewing machines and bicycles in 1968 in Kuching, has diversifie­d into motorcycle­s, reconditio­ned/ second-hand cars, lubricants, batteries, commercial vehicles, light and heavy delivery vehicles, as well as credit and leasing services in various cities across Sarawak, Sabah and Labuan.

According to one of the directors Kevin Law, the theme ‘ Take the Lead’ aims to promote the belief that everyone is a leader who can overcome obstacles in life. There will also be an exhibition on motorcycle­s and trucks, games and contests, as well as a lucky draw offering attractive prizes to be run during the event.

Proceeds from the charity run will go to Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society and Sarawak Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The charity run is supported by MBKS, City Jogger’s Club that provides on-site support, Jovibom that provides digital content, and apparel partner Ultron. Sponsors include Petron Fuel Internatio­nal Sdn Bhd, KTM, Modenas, Moma water, Indocafe, Vico and Ayam Brand.
