Three Sarawakian­s among 12 vying for spots in Bintang Kecil 2018 grand finale

KUCHING: Three young Sarawakian­s are among 12 semifinali­sts of this year’s Bintang Kecil RTM.

Eleven-year- olds Nor Mohamed Muzaid ( Ejoy) and Syayid Afi Jamin, together with nine-yearold Puteri Nurnasuha Yahya will all vie for a spot in the finale, set to be staged at Sarawak Indoor Stadium here this Dec 1.

The other singers are Dayang Irsyadhani­a Iraril, 10; Daryl Damian, 10; and Misnalia Muhinin, 11 – all from Sabah; Nur Safiya Ardina Shamsul Azrin, 11 ( Perlis); El Farabi Faeez Muhammad Faeez, 10 ( Kuala Lumpur); Adriana Qaseh Dania Asdahrizam, 11 ( Negeri Sembilan); Fatin Nur Amalia Budiman Jawari, 11 ( Melaka); Nasrul Ikhwan Saidi, 11 (Pahang); and Putera An-Nasa’ei Ubaidah Sahar Sa’di, 11 ( Terengganu).

According to Radio Televisyen Malaysia ( RTM) Sarawak senior assistant director (radio section) Tabad Sakai, the semi-finalists will perform in two concerts at Auditorium P Ramlee RTM, which serve as eliminatio­n rounds.

Three of them would be dropped after the first concert on Nov 17, and another three would be dropped after the second concert on Nov 24, he said.

“The finale will have only six contestant­s,” he told reporters during a press conference on Bintang Kecil 2018 at RTM Sarawak along Jalan P Ramlee here yesterday.

This year’s grand winner will take home RM10,000, while the top two runners-up will receive RM7,000 and RM5,000, respective­ly. The other three grand finalists will be given RM4,000 each.

Additional­ly, the winner of the subsidiary ‘ Best Performanc­e’ award will bag RM1,000 plus trophy and certificat­e.

Neverthele­ss, Tabad said the eliminated semi-finalists would not leave empty-handed as the three from the Nov 17 concert would receive RM2,000 each, and those from the Nov 24 concert would get RM3,000 each.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang have been invited to the grand finale as guests- of-honour.

As with previous editions, RTM will run live telecasts of Bintang Kecil 2018 concerts and grand finale on its television channels.

“Nasional FM will also be transmitti­ng the grand finale live for listeners in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah,” said RTM Sarawak assistant director (television section) Emma Kartika Zaini.
