AIA sponsors insurance coverage for runners during event
SIBU: Participants of the Sibu ‘Insurance Awareness Torch Run - Run For Insurance 2018’ on Nov 25 at Sibu Town Square will be covered by personal accident insurance sponsored by AIA Bhd.
The National Association of Malaysian Life Insurance and Family Takaful Advisors (Namlifa) Sibu Branch is hosting the event in conjunction with the World Insurance Awareness Day.
The public particularly school teachers and students are encouraged to take part in the run. It is learned that the organiser has obtained green light from the Education Department to allow teachers and students to join the run.
The closing date for registration is Nov 15. Meanwhile, AIA Bhd’s director of agency from Kuching Jerome Leong handed over a letter of sponsorship (insurance coverage) to Namlifa Sibu branch chairman Pang Chui Hua.
“The contribution is part of its community project toward the awareness of insurance campaign which would cover all the runners, organising committee and voluntary helpers during the event,” Leong said.
Other sponsors of the event include the Malaysian government, AmMetLife, LonPac, KPJ Sibu Medical Centre, Rejang Medical Centre, MOMA, Milo, Vico, Premier Hotel, Tanahmas Hotel, Farley Supermarket and Doremon Supermarket Sibu Jaya. Part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to charitable bodies, a spokesman for the organising committee said.
The run is divided into men’s and women’s categories.
The first 20 runners to complete the distance will each get RM1,100 besides other prizes. Organsing chairman Ngu Shin Pui said yesterday that the number of entries has crossed the targeted 1,000 mark.
“Of the total, over 100 are from outside Sibu, including some from the peninsula. We’re confident of getting over 2,000 entries,” Ngu enthused.
He said registration in group of 10 or more enjoys a special rate of RM30 entry fee.
“The normal fees for group registration (at least 10 names) are RM55 for men’s and RM50 for women’s,” he said.
