Missi one happy woman thanks to Ibraco

KUCHING: Senior citizen Missi Bi is a happy and grateful woman after receiving generous help from local property developer Ibraco Berhad, through the efforts of Hope Place Kuching and Hospital Sentosa.

The 72-year- old, who is an outpatient of the hospital, lives with her son in Stutong Baru. Their wooden home is located in a swampy area and, like most of the houses there, is built on stilts.

Hope Place founder Kelvin Wan said Missi’s home was quite run- down and in need of major repairs.

“Some parts of the floor have big cracks and the stilts are rotten. There is a danger some of them will snap one day,” he said through a statement yesterday, after recently delivering some basic assistance to the family.

He added that a small wooden stilted pathway leading to the house had in fact collapsed, but has since been repaired through efforts by Ibraco.

“She was overjoyed when told that Ibraco Berhad would repair the rundown wooden pathway.

“Hope Place wishes to thank Ibraco Berhad for their generosity in repairing her house for free. Their contribution sets an example to all to be actively involved in local charity work,” he added.

Missi has been an aid recipient of Hope Place for over two years. The non- governmental organisation carries out its aid deliveries once every three months due to the more than 180 families on its list of recipients.

For enquiries or to lend a helping hand, contact Hope Place on 0135672775 or 082- 505987. Donations can be channelled to its Maybank account ( 5112 8900 1160) under the name ‘ Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching’.
