STU Sarikei hosts luncheon for ex-teachers, those about to retire
SARIKEI: The Sarawak Teachers Union (STU) branch here recently held a luncheon to recognise the contributions of its 14 members, comprising former teachers and those who are retiring this year.
Aleng Kling, Edwin Pengiran, Jenga Roni Didid, Jentang Moore, John Yewseng Giak, Lim Soh Luan, Saban Gilut, Safiah Yaman, Seniah Sanyaw, Sharifah Mordiah Wan Suud, Stephen Ayum, Teng Mui Nieh, Timah Saerah Sluhi and Wong Hing were each presented with a memento by STU president Macky Joseph. Later, they gathered for the cake-cutting ceremony.
Additionally, the event also held a presentation of educational incentives to STU members’ children who did well in their public examinations last year.
The recipients comprised 21 primary school- children who sat for Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah ( UPSR), 23 students who sat for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia ( SPM) examinations, five who sat for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) examinations.
Prior to the luncheon, representatives from Koperasi Koperkasa Sdn Bhd and STU Insurance Scheme presented talks on the functions and prospects of their organisations, to STU members.
STU vice-president (central zone) Adam Prakash, STU secretarygeneral Chung Fui San and STU Sarikei chairwoman Irene Wong were also present.
