Six qualify for WAIfm Miri Radio Star 2018 final
MIRI: Six protégés qualified for the final of WAIfm Miri Radio Star 2018 to be held at Miri Permy Mall on Nov 17.
Miri RTM station manager Zaidi Bujang in a press release said the six finalists are Alias Spikal, Emmnuel John, Christopher Lona, Velleza Anoi, Milous Bacuk and Anna Lyn.
“Radio Star WAIfm Miri, a reality radio show which runs from 5pm, aims to search for new talents in the entertainment industry in Sarawak in particular and Malaysia in general,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday.
It is organised by RTM Miri in collaboration with MIRIfm social club and Naim Group of Companies.
“The reality programme is to highlight new talents in the music industry in line with the National Creative Industry Policy where RTM plays a role in promoting local creative content creation,” he said, adding that at the same time it is to give opportunities or encouragement to young people to become recording artists.
He urged fans of Iban songs throughout Sarawak and in Miri city especially to attend the show and support the protégés.
Meanwhile, joint producers Bana Jimbat and Desmond Surai said the WAIfm Radio Miri 2018 Star is offering a total of RM5,100 in cash prizes.
“The winner will take home RM2,000 while the runner-up RM1,000 and RM700 for the third place winner).
“For the Best Vocal category, the winner will receive RM500 cash while RM300 cash each for three consolation prize winners plus trophies and certificates.”
The organiser has invited three professional judges and a local popular Iban artist Rickie Andrewson to perform at the event.
