Huge turnout for 7th Curtin Malaysia DPVC Cup

MIRI: Over 150 bowlers took part in the 7th Curtin Malaysia Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor’s Cup bowling competitio­n organised recently by the Curtin Bowling Club of Curtin University Malaysia (Curtin Malaysia) at Megalanes East Bowling Centre Miri.

Curtin Malaysia, in a statement said the competitio­n aims to foster ties between students, staff and alumni and the larger community, in addition to promote the sport and healthy lifestyle.

In the team category, Young Sifu comprising Mohd Helmi Adham, Muhammad Ashraf Mansor, Mohd Khairul Farhan Bukhari and Mohd Zamrom Mohd Nor won both first and second place.

In third were Mousebal l , comprising Salawaty Sahar, Nazrin Nasaruddin, Jerry Joe and Joharie Azrul.

The top three teams walked away with cash prizes, trophies and hampers while fourth to 10th placed teams received trophies and bowling vouchers.

In the male individual category, Mohd Khairul Farhan Bukhari was champion, fol lowed by Muhammad Hazeeq Suif and Joharie Azrul in second and third place.

The top prize in the female individual category went to Zurina Shahri, followed by Suriyati Abdul Rani and Hayati Mohamad.

All the winners in the individual categories received trophies and cash prizes.

Meanwhile, the best male and female players went to Adri Shahri and Siti Sabrena Safari respective­ly.

Both received trophies and vouchers.

Team Wait comprising Adri Shahri, Abdur Rahim, Syafiq Shebli and Siti Sabrena Safari took the best team title.

Pui Yit Hong meanwhile won the best alumni player as Jameson Malang grabbed the best staff player. Both received trophies. The prizes were presented by Curtin Bowling Club advisor Jameson Mal ang and the club’s presidenti­al department comprising Gerald Prawira, Hossameldi­n Radwan and Chang Hao Xuan.
