Man nabbed for attempting to attack supervisor with machete

-

LIMBANG: Police have detained an administrative assistant for attempting to attack his supervisor with a machete after being given lower marks for his Annual Work Target (SKT).

Limbang police chief Supt Mohd Bukhori Saffai said the 31year-old suspect who is working in Limbang Hospital was picked up at 12.35 pm yesterday in Kampung Patiambun after the victim, a 34-year-old woman who is his supervisor lodged a police report.

“A machete measuring 42.5cm in a wooden sheath was confiscated,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Bukhori said the suspect admitted bringing the machete during the incident at 2.15pm on Thursday (Nov 15) as he was not satisfied with the SKT marks of 80 per cent given by the victim compared to 87 per cent earlier.

“Investigation found the suspect who works in the same section with the victim for two years had brought the machete and unsheathed it in an attempt to attack the victim on the day of the incident,” he said.

He said during the incident, the victim had called the suspect to discuss but was ignored and the suspect then attempted to attack the victim but was prevented by a colleague who was at the scene.

“The victim was not injured,’’ he said and added that the victim had told police the suspect is a hot-tempered person.

He said before the incident, the victim and the suspect had a misunderstanding at the work place but it was resolved internally. He said the suspect was remanded for four days until Wednesday and a urine test showed the suspect was not using drugs.

According to him, the case was being investigated under 506 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term not exceeding seven years or fine upon conviction. — Bernama
