Visiting senior citizens treated to buffet gathering

KAPIT: About 40 senior citizens from Kuching led by their chairman Reynold Loh were treated to a buffet at Meligai Hotel here last Friday.

The visit and the buffet was organised by Pusat Perkhidmat­an Warga Emas (PPWE) Kapit and Welfare Department to welcome the visitors here.

Bukit Goram assemblyma­n Jefferson Jamit officiated at the event, and among those present were Kapit PPWE Temenggong Wilfred Billy Panyau, secretary Grace Wong, treasurer Penghulu Wong Kie Ing, members Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Madang Jelaini, Penghulu Abang Hamzah Bolhassan, Penghulu Daniel Dian, Penghulu Steward Sawing, Kapitan Neo Kee Hoi, and Sng Geok Yien.

Later at the function, Jamit announced government grant of RM5,000 to the PPWE to run their activities. He also gave away ‘angpow’ to 36 senior citizens 75 years old and above.

Businessma­n Teng Lung Kee meanwhile sponsored RM1,000 for the gathering.

Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong, Bukit Goram District Officer Douglas Pungga, SAO Mohd Shukri, Welfare Officer Daniel Teo, Temenggong Tan Kian Ho, Pemanca Wasli Nor, Pemanca Enggin Nyipa, Penghulu Bunsu Geringang and Penghulu Jampi Sawing were also present at the gathering.

PPWE Kapit is a good platform for senior citizens 55 years and above to interact with each other and participat­e in social activities.
