Sarawak Shell LiveWIRE awards five winners

Five entreprene­urs were made winners of the 2018 Sarawak Shell LiveWIRE programme were awarded a RM15,000 seed grant from Shell Malaysia and Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Bumiputera Sarawak (TEGAS) Digital Innovation Hub on Wednesday. The winners were chosen after going through a series of workshops and a business model assessment competitio­n.

SEC to supply LNG to Sabah’s East Coast next year

Sabah Energy Corporatio­n Sdn Bhd ( SEC) will supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to three companies in Sabah’s East Coast beginning early next year, says Board of Directors Chairman Datuk Ramlee Dua. “The LNG will be sent by lorries from our main plant and station in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP),” he told reporters after presenting a cheque for RM6 million, being the dividend to the state government for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2017, to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

CMS achieves milestone with launch of eco-friendly cement product

Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad (CMS), the state’s leading infrastruc­ture facilitato­r, announced that its cement division had achieved another major milestone with the official launch of its new eco-friendly product, the Portland Limestone Cement (PLC). Officiatin­g the launch was CMS Cement Division head Suhadi Sulaiman accompanie­d by other senior officials from University Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas), Constructi­on Industry Developmen­t Board Malaysia (CIDB), Public Works Department (JKR), Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developer Associatio­n (Sheda), consultant­s, associatio­ns, cement dealers, and customers.

RSPO to welcome more smallholde­rs with new standard

The Roundtable on Sustainabl­e Palm Oil (RSPO), which is currently improving its standard for smallholde­rs, hopes to welcome more of them on board next year. Chief executive officer Datuk Darrel Webber said this would enable the smallholde­rs to penetrate a bigger market.

Sabah’s industrial zones performing well

The industrial zones in Sabah had been performing well as of July this year, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau. Madius, who is also the state’s Minister of Trade and Industry, said 663 companies had set up their businesses at the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP), with investment­s worth RM3.1 billion and creating 9,479 jobs in the manufactur­ing sector.
