Learn different cultures through movies, children told
SIBU: Get better understanding of other cultures through watching their movies.
According to deputy superintendent of Sibu Methodist Children’s Home Lau Sie Tung, it is indeed interesting to personally experience the different cultures through watching movies, such as the Tamil movie.
“On behalf of all our children from Sibu Methodist Children’s Home, I would like to express our very big thank you and appreciation to the Head of Malaysian Vijay Fans ( MVF) Sarawak Branch Karthikgehyen Subramaniam for kindly inviting our children to watch and enjoy the Tamil movie.”
“The special screening of Tamil movie ‘Sarkar’ starring Vijay will definitely serve as an enlightening experience for the children to have a better understanding of other cultures,” he told reporters when met before the screening of the movie at King Trioplex here on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Karthikgehyen said it was the second time that they had invited the children from Sibu Methodist Children’s Home to watch a Tamil movie. On Saturday, some 60 children from the Home were treated to the movie in conjunction with the Deepavali celebration. The children were also given refreshment and food.
“As an NGO, MVF focuses on charity works especially to children’s home, longhouses and welfare homes,” Karthikgehyen said.
