SHAH ALAM: PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has pledged to stand together with new PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to ensure PKR remains strong as well as to further strengthen the Pakatan Harapan ( PH) government.

Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Minister of Economic Affairs, reminded all party members not to betray the party’s struggles that they had fought so hard for 20 long years.

“We are grateful that after 20 years of struggles, now Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is back to lead the party. I, together with colleagues, pledge to work with Anwar to face the challenges in the party,” he said in his winding-up speech on the last day of the 13th PKR National Congress here.

Mohamed Azmin said party members must stay united and not cause discord among fellow members for them to stay strong to fend off enemy attacks.

He also cited his ‘ feud’ with Mohd Rafizi Ramli during the race for the deputy president post as an example that reflected the unity in the party.

“A representative from Perlis has honestly and openly asked me and my friend ( Mohd) Rafizi to stop campaigning for the election and to move forward to strengthen PKR. As I am older than Rafizi, as a big brother, spontaneously I moved towards Rafizi to shake his hands and hugged him and hope that the friendship remains intact.

Mohamed Azmin also described the various issues raised between him and Rafizi during the election as a normal process of democracy.

He said it proved that PKR managed democracy well and demonstrated the process of mature democracy. — Bernama
