Julaihi allocates RM100,000 for petanque field

SEBUYAU: Assistant Minister of Coastal Road, Datuk Julaihi Narawi has set aside RM100,000 for the constructi­on of a petanque field in Sebuyau.

He said the allocation would be given next year and urged Sri Ruai Petanque Club Sebuyau under Jefferi Abu Bakar to identify a site and prepare a plan for the project.

Julaihi pointed out that the sport which is new in the coastal town will help to promote Sebuyau which is now well connected with good road network and bridges like the Samarahan and Batang Lupar.

“For next year, I am giving RM100,000 allocation to have a petanque field and which I believe will help to promote and develop Sebuyau being a strategic location of the coastal road project and which is now connected with good road network,” Julaihi, who is Sebuyau assemblyma­n, said on Saturday when officiatin­g at the petanque competitio­n organised by Sri Ruai Petanque Club Sebuyau, here.

Participan­ts of the competitio­n came from Beladin, Bintulu and Kuching.

He pointed out that the project would be co - ordinated by Samarahan Resident Brahim Lumpu.

Later, Julaihi of ficiated at Sebuyau Traditiona­l Food 2018 cooking competitio­n at Dewan Pembanguna­n Sebuyau, organised by Universiti Teknologi Mara ( UiTM), as part of an effort to help the locals for the entreprene­urship tourism product (eTourP) which started in 2012.

The cooking competitio­n was part of the RM95,000 allocation from Julaihi given in January this year.
