Nurse loses RM6,000 in Macau Scam

-

KUCHING: A 35-year- old woman from Padawan suffered losses of RM6,000 after she was fooled by the Macau Scam syndicate recently.

State CCID chief Supt Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah said on Nov 23, a nurse received a phone call and a text message via social media from a woman who introduced herself as Fazura ( 016 5639435).

The suspect then informed the victim of her unsettled summonses and requested for immediate payment to be made to avoid further action.

The call was then transferred to a man who posed as a police personnel ( Sarjan Mark - 01151289584) who notified the victim to settle her summonses amounting to RM6,000.

“The victim, who was fooled, transferred the said amount ( RM6,000) to a Maybank account of ‘Nur Aeffariesha’,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Meanwhile, in Bintulu, Mustafa said a 28-year- old man, employed as a factory worker, managed to avoid from being prey to the Macau Scam.

He noted on Nov 25, the man received a phone call from an individual ( 012-1287352) who claimed to be a police personnel from Johor, and allegedly claimed that the man was involved in a hit and run case on Nov 22.

However, the man denied such involvement and said that he was in Bintulu. The suspect then requested the man to come to the Johor police station for statement, to which he refused and said that he would lodge a police report at the nearest police station.

“The suspect then told the victim not to lodge such police report, insisting that he would like to settle the case with the victim. The victim then received another telephone call from 07-3532124, but he still denied his involvement and refused to make any transaction. The victim did not suffer any losses in this case,” said Mustafa.
