CM tours NetDragon VR campus in Fuzhou
KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was in Fuzhou, China with members of his delegation yesterday to tour the NetDragon Virtual Reality ( VR) Campus in Changle near Fuzhou, the capital city of Fujian Province.
NetDragon, founded in 1999, is China’s leading company that develops and operates multiplayer online games in addition to making mobile applications.
Headquartered in Fuzhou, it had grown into a global interactive education industry software and hardware provider with presence in numerous countries outside China.
The chief minister in his return address after a briefing on the overview of the company’s operation by NetDragon’s vice president Dato Dr Simon Leung Lim Kin, said his visit was primarily to explore ways to introduce internet- based and interactive learning in Sarawak’s pre-school education.
He said pre- school education is not under the purview of the federal government, thus the Sarawak government could decide the best approach to ensure firm grounding in digital education right from the pre-school stage.
Members of the chief minister’s delegation include Minister of International Trade and ECommerce Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh, Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong, and State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani.
Earlier, upon arrival at the campus, the chief minister and members of his delegation were given a briefing at the company’s virtual reality centre.
The delegation was specially given insight into interactive classroom learning, which is used in the company’s client countries all over the world.
The visit wrapped up with a tour of the company’s founder Liu De Jian’s private office and his private IMAX theatre.
The Sarawak delegation arrived in China on Sunday.
