PETALING JAYA: Actor and director, Datuk Farid Kamil Zahari yesterday gave his statement over a police report linking him to an alleged RM5 million bribe by the previous government at the Court Complex here.

Farid Kamil, 37, gave his statement in a witness room and his statement was recorded by a police officer from the Petaling Jaya police headquarters (IPD).

He gave the statement after the proceeding of his case at the Magistrate Court here.

According to his counsel Megat Syazlee Mokhtarom, his client gave his statement for 30 minutes.

“He is expected to continue with his statement at Petaling Jaya IPD tomorrow(today) after the remention of a case involving five charges at this court,” he told reporters.

Bernama had earlier reported police would be calling for the actor of J. Revolusi movie on a police report lodged against him over an alleged attempt by the previous government to bribe him with RM5 million.

Selangor CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat, in confirming the matter, said a police report was lodged at the Kota Damansara police station at 6pm on Nov 8 by a 43-year-old man representing Pemantau Malaysia Baru president Datuk Lokman Noor Adam.

In the police report, the complainant alleged watching a video on Youtube in which Farid Kamil said there was an attempt to bribe him with RM 5 million to forgive former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

“The complainant claims Farid Kamil had deliberately concocted the story to tarnish the image of Najib and Rosmah and if the allegation was true, why didn’t Farid Kamil lodge a report with MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission)?” he said in a media conference. — Bernama
