SARIKEI: The people are urged to talk to their doctors or specialists about their health issues and problems.

This is important not only to talk about cure or medication but also about prevention.

Divisional health officer Dr Emmanuel Joseph Fong Tsung said this when officiating at ‘Health with Specialist Day’ programme organised by the Health Department at Sarikei Innovation Centre here yesterday.

He advised the public to take advantage of the programme to bring up their health issues or problems to the attention of specialists.

“Those who are healthy, feel free to ask the specialists how to ensure a sustainable healthy body, and those not so healthy to seek advice on how to control their sickness from deteriorating or to avoid complications.”

The objective of the programme was to create a health- conscious community in line with the department’s vision which emphasises on the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Dr Fong also reminded the people that looking after their health was a big responsibility, which must be accorded serious attention.

Among healthy lifestyles, he recommended, were to eat a healthy diet, regular physical exercise, and avoid stress, smoking and taking alcohol.

Epidemiologist Dr Johny Kelak, Family Medical Specialist Dr Muhammad Faiz Rasmi, Dr Kong Sie Zin, and Dr Hwang Yew Lang were among those present at the function.
