Rep: All have role to play in accelerating rural devt pace
JULAU: No one is exempted from playing their role in developing their respective constituency.
Meluan assemblyman, Rolland Duat said it is down to rural folk to double their efforts in order to catch up with other places in terms of physical and economic development.
“As it is, we are still left far behind in terms of infrastructure, facilities, utilities and amenities, and hence we need to double our efforts in order to catch up with other fast- developing areas,” he said at a ‘ leader with the people’ session in Rumah Agil, Rantau Pitak, Nanaga Entabai near here recently.
After several rounds of visits to longhouses in the constituency, Rolland said he already had a general development plan to be implemented in Meluan.
At the of the development list are roads to link all remote places in Ulu Kanowit, Ulu Mujok, Ulu Entabai, Engkamop, Lasi, Merurun, and also the Chinese settlement ( Kpg Cina Selaut) opposite downtown Julau.
Other urgently needed projects were electricity and water supplies, upgrading and repairing of schools, upgrading of clinics and communication services in rural areas, he added.
Rolland thus called on the people to render their full support to the government so that all development projects could be implemented smoothly in their areas.
During the function, he officiated a newly completed concrete access road to the longhouse and a parking space. He also announced a RM5,000- grant to the security and development committee (JKKK) of the longhouse.
He also announced a RM10,000grant from his 2019 MRP fund to the JKKK of nearby longhouse Rumah Moses.
