The conference, from Nov 16 to 19, also involved personnel from Maxis, Nera Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Sprintz Design Sdn Bhd, as organisers of the event.

It was officiated by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia (MCMC) Sarawak director Roslan Mohamad, who commended efforts to uplift the people’s economic standards through e- commerce and entrepreneurial activities via internet centres.

Various activities such as the Explorace Challenge were organised during the conference, aimed at increasing the knowledge and skills of Internet Centre employees.

A pyjama-themed dinner involving participants and invited guests was also held to foster closer relations amongst each other.

MCMC established internet centres to provide collective broadband access in locations that lack service coverage through the Universal Service Provider ( USP), to ensure rural communities are able to improve their social and economic status, with each centre also providing computer training and software.

In its effort to further promote entrepreneurship and e-commerce within internet centres, the conference also introduced function of courier service such as Skynet that can be used in tandem with community activities.

In addition, Pos Malaysia also runs registered postal agent service at Maxis internet centres, with MCMC aiming to provide such service in more than 100 internet centres by 2020.
