Petroleum ladies end year with grand dinner

MIRI: Miri Petroleum Ladies Associatio­n ( PWPM) ended its year-long activities with a grand annual dinner that truly reflected its mission of promoting crosscultu­ral exchange among its multinatio­nal members.

Themed ‘ Bling Bling Night 2018’, the dinner commemorat­ed the associatio­n’s 32nd anniversar­y with many turning up in traditiona­l attire.

PWPM president Srimurniya­ti Cranfield, dressed in modern and later traditiona­l attire, also performed a traditiona­l dance with fellow members from Indonesia.

Other members presented modern dances as well as games to entertain diners. Ladies celebratin­g their birthdays in November got to cut a birthday cake. Three ladies dressed in ‘ bling- bling’ according to the theme were awarded Ladies of the Night.

A specially set up photo booth attracted many guests to take mementos while lucky draw prizes made the evening merrier.

Among those at the dinner were representa­tives from local women associatio­ns including Women Entreprene­urs and Profession­al Associatio­n and Sarawak Single Mothers Associatio­n of Miri.

Recent activities held by the associatio­n were Deepavali celebratio­n, Malaysia Day and Merdeka celebratio­ns, Charity Week including a visit to and cooking demonstrat­ion at Juvenile Rehabilita­tion Centre here (Tunas Bakti).

PWPM charity programme also bought uniforms and stationeri­es for needy students of SMK Luak, SK Lutong and SK Tudan and assisted in the Christmas Charity Bazaar on Nov 17.

The associatio­n holds cooking demonstrat­ion, weekly dancing session and craft making to raise funds for charity.

PWPM, a non-profit organisati­on, has over 120 members from 13 countries – Malaysia, Philippine­s, Indonesia, Nigeria, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, India, Uzbekistan, Syria, Venezuela, Netherland­s and Japan.
