Petroleum ladies end year with grand dinner
MIRI: Miri Petroleum Ladies Association ( PWPM) ended its year-long activities with a grand annual dinner that truly reflected its mission of promoting crosscultural exchange among its multinational members.
Themed ‘ Bling Bling Night 2018’, the dinner commemorated the association’s 32nd anniversary with many turning up in traditional attire.
PWPM president Srimurniyati Cranfield, dressed in modern and later traditional attire, also performed a traditional dance with fellow members from Indonesia.
Other members presented modern dances as well as games to entertain diners. Ladies celebrating their birthdays in November got to cut a birthday cake. Three ladies dressed in ‘ bling- bling’ according to the theme were awarded Ladies of the Night.
A specially set up photo booth attracted many guests to take mementos while lucky draw prizes made the evening merrier.
Among those at the dinner were representatives from local women associations including Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Association and Sarawak Single Mothers Association of Miri.
Recent activities held by the association were Deepavali celebration, Malaysia Day and Merdeka celebrations, Charity Week including a visit to and cooking demonstration at Juvenile Rehabilitation Centre here (Tunas Bakti).
PWPM charity programme also bought uniforms and stationeries for needy students of SMK Luak, SK Lutong and SK Tudan and assisted in the Christmas Charity Bazaar on Nov 17.
The association holds cooking demonstration, weekly dancing session and craft making to raise funds for charity.
PWPM, a non-profit organisation, has over 120 members from 13 countries – Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Nigeria, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, India, Uzbekistan, Syria, Venezuela, Netherlands and Japan.
