Madinah backs stand on 1MDB final audit report

-

KUALA LUMPUR: AuditorGeneral Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad defended her earlier statement that the 1Malaysia Development Berhad ( 1MDB) Final Audit Report tabled in Parliament in 2016 has been changed.

Public Account Committee ( PAC) chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said Madinah who was present as a second witness in the PAC’s proceedings on allegations of changes made to the report, gave a statement which was similar to the statement made on the matter previously.

“We obtained a lot of information from Madinah and her team today ... It’s like what she had stated in his press statement earlier that the Auditor- General’s report (on 1MDB discrepancies) had been tampered with.

“She gave evidence to show that the report had been altered,” he told reporters after the three-hour proceedings in the Parliament building yesterday.

In a statement dated Nov 24, Madinah revealed that parts of the 1MDB final audit report had been dropped or amended on individual orders including former prime minister and former finance minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, and his former principal private secretary Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh.

Kiandee said he was satisfied with the course of the proceedings and explanations given by Medina.

“I do not think there is any need to call her back,” he said, adding that some new names also cropped up in today’s proceedings and will be summoned to testify.’’

He said at the next proceedings tomorrow, the PAC would call the Government Audit Sector former director, Saadatul Nafisah to testify.

He said tomorrow would be the final day of the investigative proceedings on the issue this year and would be continued in January next year.

Meanwhile, Madinah who refused to comment at length said the original audit report on 1MDB, before it was amended, had been submitted to the PAC for reference. — Bernama
