Song to host inaugural Dabai Fest Dec 14-16
KAPIT: Pesta Dabai Song will be held in Song from Dec 14-16, an event organised by Kapit District Council (KDC) and several government departments and agencies in Song District.
Chairing the final committee meeting held in Song Wednesday was KDC secretary Kelimbik Sibat, to finalise the details of the festival to ensure its smooth running.
Several sectional heads of the council, representatives of the various government agencies in Song, Pemanca Jamit Untam, an officer from Song District Council Fatimal Ilam, and several councillors were among those present.
Kelimbik said Song was chosen to host the festival this time because it is well-known for producing the best quality dabai ( local olive) in Sarawak.
“Song is one of districts under Kapit Division, and the dabai festival will hopefully enliven the normally sleepy hallow. The last dabai fest was held in Kapit four years ago.”
Katibas assemblyman Datuk Ambrose Blikau is expected to declare open the festival in the evening of Dec 14 at the lobby of Song District Office. Kapit walikota Dato PhilimonNuing and KDC secretary Jabang Juntan are expected to be there too.
