All invited to Naim’s Christmas Tree ‘Light On’ ceremony
KUCHING: With Christmas just around the corner, Naim Bintulu Paragon has already adorned its Street Mall with a magnificent Christmas tree, dazzling fairy lights and colossal ornaments.
Naim Street Mall will also ramp up the atmosphere of goodwill by having its first ever Christmas Charity Bazaar from Dec 15 to 23 to raise funds for those in need.
“Christmas is essentially a time of goodwill and as citizens of the community, we believe in the responsibility to lessen the plight and burden of the less fortunate.
“We invite all to come to our Christmas Tree ‘ Light On’ ceremony at 7.30pm on Dec 9 at the piazza area, which will mark the start of our ‘Giving Tree’ campaign,” Naim Bintulu regional general manager Abang Mahathir Mohamed said in a statement yesterday.
The campaign aims to encourage people to donate back- to- school supplies, books, clothes and gifts for children of designated charitable bodies in the spirit of Christmas.
According to Mahathir, shoppers would be greeted by a rich red and gold-picturesque scene, featuring a towering 40-foot Christmas tree at the piazza area of the mall.
“It’s definitely an impressive sight as it is regarded as the tallest and biggest in Bintulu this Christmas.”
Besides the ceremony, members of the public are also invited to patronise the mall’s Christmas Charity Bazaar, which will feature 30 stalls offering a wide array of Christmas-related goodies, handicrafts and delicious food, with part of proceeds going to charity.
Various charitable and festive activities lined up for shoppers throughout the 9- day bazaar include caroling, choirs, balloon sculpture giveaways, baking demos, Zumba, and ballet performances.
To add to the festivities, ‘Santa Claus’ will be making his rounds throughout the week, presenting great photo opportunities for the children.
Another highlight of the event is the benefit live concerts by Nading Rhapsody, Jerry Kamit and Zee Avi in the evenings of Dec 22 and 23 where money raised will also be channeled to deserving charities.
Malaysian singer- songwriter Zee Avi, who was recently awarded the ‘ International Young Artist Award’ in Jakarta, is thrilled to be performing in Bintulu for the first time.
“Christmas is always a special time and I’m excited to be performing for my fellow Sarawakians this festive season. Hopefully, this concert will uplift the spirit of those who may need it,” she said.
