Four trainees to pursue career, studies under NFDP M’sia

KUCHING: Four trainees from the National Football Developmen­t Programme (NFDP) Sarawak have been selected to undergo football training and studies under NFDP Malaysia next year.

They are Ahmad Daniel Razali, who will go to the Mokhtar Dahari Football Academy in Gambang Pahang while Muhammad Asyraf Ezany Sabu, Muhammad Aniq Aiman Yusri and Wan Deniel Afizie Wan Nazaruddin are heading to Ibrahim Fikiri Sports School in Terengganu.

Since its launch in 2010, NFDP Sarawak has produced national players like Awang Faiz Awang Fathi who represente­d Malaysia in the AFF Cup U19 and JDT2 after moving to Bukit Jalil Sports School in Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Haziq Rahimi, a former Malaysia U16 player, is currently playing for PKNP FC, Perak and is a student of Sekolah Sukan Malaysia, Pahang.

They are among the first batch of trainees under NFDP Sarawak from 2010-2011.

In 2015, Zaim Maslan was selected to study at Bukit Jalil Sports School and played for the Malaysia U16 B team.

They are followed by three more trainees in 2016 namely Mohd Nasyaruddi­n Jaapar Sidek, Mohd Nazrul Azizi Mohd Kindang and Casey Lipa Edward who went to Ibrahim Fikiri Sports School and played for the Malaysia U15 team.

In the same year, Ramund Bennet, Harith Danielle Abdullah and Ainur Aiqal Ayub were roped into the Mokhtar Dahari Football Academy, whi le Ali f Aiman Mohamad followed suit in 2017.

NFDP Sarawak head Hazry Abdullah said the close cooperatio­n and high commitment shown by the coordinato­rs at district, division and state levels as well coaches from the NFDP Sarawak Tunas Academy in Kuching, Samarahan, Bintulu and Miri had greatly helped to realise the vision and mission of the national football developmen­t programme.

He hoped that more trainees with high prospects will be produced through the cooperatio­n of the Football Associatio­n of Sarawak, Sarawak Sports Corporatio­n and Sarawak State Sports Council in other divisions apart from Kuching, Samarahan, Bintulu and Miri.

Hazry said NFDP Sarawak also thanked the Sarawak Education Depa r tment , p rog r amme sponsors as well as the parents and guardians who were committed in sending the trainees for training three times a week.
