Miri Times Square lights up for first Christmas

-

MIRI: The newly completed Miri Times Square by ParkCity has added another impressive landmark to the resort city.

“From the pedestrian friendly streets to the open central courtyard, this commercial centre is indeed something new for Miri. I am sure Miri Times Square will soon bring vibrancy to the local landscape.

“I was informed that MayBank, Public Bank, CIMB and the first Harvey Norman outlet in Miri are opening in this commercial mall,” Miri mayor Adam Yii said while officiating at the Christmas tree lighting in Victoria Plaza of Miri Times Square on Friday.

Yii pointed that the gateway or welcoming arch at Miri Times Square is strategically located at the entry point of the oldest street, High Street of the old Miri.

Its close proximity to the 15acre Central Park, he added, will definitely promote a healthier lifestyle among Mirians.

He said Miri City Council (MCC) would like to applaud the developer for its commitment and initiative in maintaining Central Park until today.

“I’ve noticed that Central Park has become a popular spot for locals and this is very much in line with MCC’s objective to encourage a healthier lifestyle,” he added.

Commenting on the charity event, he said the council always welcomes initiatives from the private sector to help the less fortunate.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate ParkCity and Samling for organising this Christmas celebration and charity event.

“It is indeed amazing to see various private companies and NGO, such as Starbucks, McDonalds and Lions Club joining forces for this charity event,” he added.

Later at the same function, Samling and ParkCity handed over donation totalling RM26,010 to three charitable homes- Miri Methodist Children’s Home, Malaysia Red Crescent (MRC) Sunflower Centre and Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) Miri.

Also present were Chee Siew Pin chief operation officer (COO) of Pantai Bayu Indah (master developer of Marina ParkCity), James Ho COO of Samling Group of Companies and Albert Tan head of administration manager of Samling Group of Companies.
