Though lack of funding has always been a problem the support from local NGOs by chipping in donations to cover the expenses has enabled it to organise the activities successfully.

Speaking at a committee meeting of the PDK on Wednesday, chairperson Moonly Tiang Yung Hee thanked the sponsors for making it possible for them to organise the activities for children with special needs (OKU).

“Thank you to NGOs like Lions Club of Kapit, Women wing of Kwang Tung Association, Women wing of Chiang Chuan Association and also Women wing of Foochow Association and Maybank Kapit branch. Special thanks go to Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat who has chipped in funds to assist us,” she said.

She also extended their gratitude to the Welfare Department for allocating funds for the rental of the centre and allowances for the three staff.

On another matter, she appealed for public donations to purchase a van to transport the trainees at the centre.

“Here we run two activities - day care and home visit. It is our hope to have a van so that we can provide transport for trainees to attend the day care,” said Moonly.
