New Proton X70 a crowd puller at Syarikat JL Motors
MIRI: For Proton fans, the longawaited Proton X70 has finally arrived and is now centre-stage at Syarikat JL Motors Sdn Bhd’s showroom in Piasau here.
The Proton X70 is proving to be a real crowd puller with many eager visitors taking the opportunity to have a closer look at the new sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Speaking to the media, Syarikat JL Motors general manager Esther Ngu said this first premium SUV developed by Geely has surpassed many expectations in terms of built quality and features.
For those looking for a mid-range SUV, the X70 features a powerful 1.8-litre turbocharged engine and spacious cabin – perfect for a midsize family.
Though this vehicle is made in China, it is developed with European technology and is on par with famous names like Volvo and Mercedes, she said.
There are four variants of the X70 on offer – Standard 2WD, Executive 2WD, Executive AWD and Premium 2WD.
Smart features include Androidbased infortainment system that comes with embedded SIM card, internet connectivity, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and voice recognition.
Ngu added that many of the X70’s features incorporate artificial intelligence such as in the power steering, which dampens the steering wheel as the car reaches 90km/h, sensors which stops the car as it approaches an object, and the tyre pressure monitoring system which can inform the owner that the tyres need to be maintained at correct pressure.
With internet connectivity, owners could also be informed about the conditions of the car via an app. In addition, they can also perform remote tasks such as turning on the air- conditioning using the app minutes before boarding the car, she explained.
To- date, Ngu said Syarikat JL Motors has already received more than 20 bookings and the response has been very encouraging.
The Proton X70 is backed by five years unlimited mileage warranty on the engine and other parts.
On-the-road prices inclusive of insurance are as follows: Standard 2WD at RM102,177, Executive AWD at RM118,521; Executive 2WD at RM112,392; and Premium 2WD at RM126,736.
