Kereta Mewah launches new Proton X70
MIRI: The long wait is finally over as Kereta Mewah Sdn Bhd unveiled the much anticipated Proton X70 yesterday.
Encompassing the latest technology from Geely and Volvo, the new sports utility vehicle ( SUV) not only exudes an elegant and sporty look, but is technically class- leading in terms of performance, handling and features.
With a distinct signature grille, sporty front bumper, headlights and bonnet, the Proton X70 meets the latest styling of a modern SUV which surpasses previous Proton models in terms of look, feel and state- of-the-art features.
There four variants of the X70 – Standard 2WD, Executive 2WD, Executive AWD and Premium 2WD.
All variants are powered by a 1.8- litre turbocharged fourcylinder petrol engine producing 18hp and 285Nm of torque from 1,700 to 4,400 rpm, mated to a sixspeed automatic transmission with manual shift mode.
According to Kereta Mewah sales manager Kenn Tan, the response to the X70 has been `overwhelmingly good’, with 75 bookings received to- date.
Speaking to the press at Kereta Mewah’s 3S Centre in Lutong here, he said apart from free gifts, buyers can expect five years in unlimited mileage warranty, free first service which includes lubricant, oil filter and labour charges, and extra low interest rate of 2.3 per cent offered by local banks.
Meanwhile, Kereta Mewah’s managing director Tan Kim Hoon said he expects the X70 to be the most saleable Proton model for 2019.
The smart features of Proton X70’s infotainment system comes with an Android- based touchscreen panel, which incorporates embedded SIM card, WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS navigation system and, most importantly, voice command.
The Standard 2WD comes with halogen headlamps, 17-inch alloy rims, fabric seats, rearview camera and an air purifier system.
The Executive 2WD variant ups the specs by incorporating LED headlamps and LED daytime running lamps, 18-inch alloy rims, leatherette seats, power steering and 360-degree cameras.
The Executive AWD adds on a tyre pressure monitoring system, while the Premium 2WD variant entices drivers with its exclusive features such as Nappa leather seats, panoramic sunroof and 19inch alloy wheels.
When it comes to handling, the Premium 2WD variant is bestowed with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) which incorporates autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning, blind spot information system ( BLIS) and intelligent high beam control (which automatically lowers the beam when an oncoming car is detected).
Safety features like Electronic Stability Control ( ESC) and six airbags are standard across all variants. The Proton X70 also scored a class-leading five star in the China NCAP crash test.
The Proton X70 comes in five colours – Flame Red, Snow White, Armour Silver, Jet Grey and Cinnamon Brown – with on-theroad prices (inclusive of insurance) ranging from RM102,198 to RM126,844 (depending on specs and variants).
