Kuching City Scout Council to send delegation to Kedah camp

-

KUCHING: The Kuching City Scout Council will be sending a contingent comprising 26 scouts, three Rover scouts and one Cub scout to the RCA Kedah Carnival Camp from Dec 19-23.

The contingent will be led by Assistant District Commissioner Jennifer Lai and assisted by Patrick Tan, Aaron Then and Ong Hui Hee.

“The camp organised by the Chinese schools in Kedah is one of the biggest scouting events in Malaysia. It is to give opportunity to students from Chinese schools to take part in scouting activities.

“This is also good for our scouts as they get to share their knowledge and experience with their counterparts not only from Peninsular Malaysia but also from other countries such as Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei and Indonesia,” said Lai during a flag handover ceremony at the Kuching City Scout Council headquarters in Jalan Batu Lintang here last Sunday.

“To date, Hong Kong, China and Taiwan have confirmed sending their contingents and we hope to hear similar good news from the other countries too,” she added.

According to her, more than 1,000 scouts, rovers and leaders are expected at the camp.

Activities for the scouts will be station games while leaders and rovers will be having outdoor activities.

This annual event that started in 1986 as a group level event has become an international affair where scouts and leaders from other countries are invited to take part every year.
