Christmas price-control scheme from Dec 23 to 27

KUALA LUMPUR: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will enforce the festive season price control scheme for Christmas from Dec 23 to 27.

Sixteen types of products will come under the scheme which will ensure that their prices are not raised arbitraril­y, it said in a statement distribute­d in Parliament yesterday.

The goods placed under the scheme are: Live chicken Standard chicken (slaughtere­d and dressed, with head, feet, liver and gall bladder) Super chicken (slaughtere­d and dressed, without head, feet, liver and gall bladder) Live old chicken (maximum price in Sarawak only) Imported turkey Chicken wings (maximum price in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan only) Local mutton with bone (maximum price in the peninsula only) Imported mutton and lamb with bone Grade A eggs ( between 65 gm and 69.9 gm) Grade B eggs ( between 60 gm and 64.9 gm) Grade C eggs ( between 55 and 59.9 gm) Tomatoes Green capsicum Live pig (control at the farm only) Pork (stomach) (maximum price in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan only) Pork (meat and fat) (maximum price in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan only)

The ministry warned of firm action against traders who fail to adhere to the scheme under the Price Control and AntiProfit­eering Act 2011. It said traders can be penalised for selling pricecontr­ol items above the maximum price and failing to place the pink price tags on these goods.

“The ministry enforcemen­t officers will monitor and conduct checks at markets, farmers’ markets and supermarke­ts,” it said.

Consumers can channel their complaints to the ministry via 03- 8000 8000 ( Malaysia Government Call Centre ( MYGCC)) or the toll- free line of the Strategic Operations and Informatio­n Centre ( PIGOS) at 03- 8882 6245 / 6088.

Complaints can also be lodged via the smart telephone applicatio­n Ez ADU, SMS to15888 by typing ‘ KPDNHEP ADUAN’ with the complaint details, sending a WhatsApp message to 019-279 4317 or sending an email to e- aduan@ kpdnhep.gov.my.
