PKR Miri congratulates Baru for re-election as PKR S’wak chief

-

MIRI: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Miri branch congratulated Minister of Works Baru Bian for being re- elected to lead the PKR state leadership council (MPN) as chairman.

On Saturday, Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil on behalf of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially announced that Baru, who is also MP for Selangau, had been re- elected as the PKR Sarawak chairman, a post he had held since 2009.

The congratulatory message was issued by PKR Miri branch chairman Dr Michael Teo, who is also the MP for Miri, through his service centre yesterday.

“As it is a secret ballot, only the party president knows the details of the voting amongst the 27 branch chairmen with two absentees. I would like to thank our supporters too and had I won I would be ready as well to prepare our party machinery for the important state election that is coming up in one to two years,” said Dr Teo, who also vied for the state PKR chief post.

Dr Teo said the party encouraged gentlemanly competition by secret ballot as this would strengthen and multiply party membership with the view to ensure the party president becomes the 8th prime minister of Malaysia.

“At this juncture, we urge all leaders to reunite and regroup with the view to fight Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) soon.

“I also appeal to all branch chairmen to look forward and prepare well with more activities and programmes for the people in the country.”
