Umno expresses condolence­s, urges transparen­t probe into fireman’s death

SEREMBAN: Umno yesterday expressed condolence­s to the family of fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who died Monday night and urged the authoritie­s to conduct a transparen­t investigat­ion promptly.

Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the parties involved must be brought to justice and punished accordingl­y.

“Umno and I personally express my condolence­s to all the family members of the deceased. May the family have the strength and patience to deal with this difficult time.

“Thanks to the medical team and all the staff of the National Heart Institute and all those who have helped so far. Indeed, the sacrifice of national security personnel in carrying out their duties to the country is a huge contributi­on which cannot be equated,” he said in a statement here. Muhammad Adib, who was injured in the fracas at the Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25, Subang Jaya on Nov 27 while carrying out a task to extinguish a fire in front of the premises, died at 9.41pm Monday.

Following his death, Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the case was now reclassifi­ed as murder.

Meanwhile, the Negaraku Brigade in a statement here also urged that Muhammad A di b’ s death be investigat­ed in a transparen­t and independen­t manner without interferen­ce from any party.

“The Attorney- General should play a role to prosecute those who are guilty,” said Negaraku Brigade vice-president Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.

Brigade Negaraku expresses its condolence­s to the deceased’s family and was equally saddened by the loss of Muhammad Adib, said Dr Muhamad.
