JKM Bintulu and partners ready to serve and deliver efficient services

BINTULU: The Welfare Department (JKM) and its partners here are ready to serve and deliver the best services to the people on the ground.

JKM Bintulu officer Taddy Ajin said despite some constraints and the people’s high expectation on the department, his side would carry out their duties to the best of their abilities.

He said they are lucky to have the support and cooperation from their strategic partners such as various government departments and agencies, the private sector and local non- governmental organisations (NGOs).

For the record, JKM Bintulu has 3,589 eligible monthly welfare aid recipients – for this month, the payout would involve an allocation of RM12.9 million.

“Being a responsible organisation entrusted to look after the welfare of the people, we are committed to giving the best services in order to ease the burden of the needy people,” he said during the department’s appreciation dinner on Monday.

Taddy also said JKM Bintulu had recorded involvement in 87 cases of natural disasters to date.

“Inter- agency collaboration is important for us to respond and distribute immediate relief assistance to the victims. We do not wait for the victims to come to our office to report the incidents,” he said.

Meanwhile, the dinner organising chairman Muhamad Khairul Mukhsin Sadim – also the head of Bintulu Volunteer Community Development Unit – said the event was specially held for their strategic partners.

“It is one of ways to express our appreciation for their contributions and services. We hope it could foster more understanding about our roles, in an effort to improve our services further,” said Khairul.
