Pre-Christmas/New Year do gathers local govt officials in Kapit

KAPIT: It was a merry preChristm­as/New Year gathering, hosted by Kapit District Office at the Sri Kapit building along Jalan Puan Sri Tiong here recently.

The event hosted local government officials and staff, as well as local community leaders.

Pelagus assemblyma­n Wilson Nyabong Ijang officiated at the ceremony, witnessed by Kapit District Officer Elvis Didit, a political secretary to chief minister Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Kapit District Office administra­tive officers Bidah Lujah and Mohd Shukri, Nyabong’s special officer Wallace Paul, as well as staff members of both Kapit Resident’s office and Kapit District Office.

Pemanca Yong Thu Fook, Penghulu Abang Hamzah Bolhassan, Penghulu Sia Shui Poh, Penghulu Daniel Dian, Penghulu Ugak Esop, Penghulu Madang Jelaini, Penghulu Pasang Tubak, Penghulu Sallang Batang, Penghulu Undie Bajal and Penghulu Steward Sawing were among the local community leaders present at the gathering, where they enjoyed a sumptuous buffet prepared by the host.

It was estimated that the event hosted some 200 people, including local Youth members of Parti Rakyat Sarawak ( PRS).

In his welcoming remarks, Elvis mentioned that prior to the gathering, he attended a meeting conducted by the Kapit District Community Leaders Associatio­n at the function room of Bletih Complex here.

The new associatio­n is said to have 198 members.
