13 UCTS students in study trip to Guangzhou, China

SIBU: Thirteen University College of Technology Sarawak ( UCTS) students from the School of Business and Management and School of Built Environmen­t took part in an 8-day educationa­l trip to Guangzhou, China recently.

The university in a press release here yesterday said the programme was part of an internatio­nal collaborat­ion between UCTS and Guangzhou AIB Polytechni­c (GDAIB).

The students were led by UCTS head of Accounting Programme Associate Professor Dr Azlan Ali.

“This study trip was designed by the Internatio­nal Office of UCTS to provide opportunit­ies for students to understand the culture and socio- economic developmen­t in one of the major cities in China,” Azlan said in the press statement.

He added that it was vital for students to expand their horizon and get out of their comfort zone by learning the cultures in other countries.

The students visited six commercial and industrial premises namely Guangzhou Yongrui Financial Consulting Company, Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co Limited, Yeh Hai Kerry vegetable oil company, Yishion E- Commerce Company, Guangzhou Yakult and Yantang Dairy Company.

The students also visited GDAIB main campus andseveral­historical places around Guangzhou.

One of the participat­ing students, Eileen Ling Yih Jing said she was impressed by the places they visited during the trip and thanked UCTS for the opportunit­y.

“It was an excellent and remarkable experience for UCTS students as it was not only enjoyable and fun-fi lled but they made new friends as well,” she said.
