All clubs, sports associatio­ns told to register with Sports Commission­er

BAU: Allclubsor sportassoc­iations which have yet to register with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sarawak are required to do so to facilitate coordinati­on and channellin­g of annual funds.

They a re encouraged to register with the Sarawak Sports Commission­er.

According to Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Datuk Snowdan Lawan, unregister­ed sport associatio­ns can apply for online registrati­on through the Registrati­on of Sport Associatio­ns ( Rosa).

“Alternativ­ely, registrati­on can also be made by filling in the applicatio­n form from the Sports Commission­er Office,” he said when officiatin­g the Serembu Youth Hobby Carnival at Siniawan Old Town here yesterday.

Snowdan also pointed out that the Sarawak government is constantly looking for suitable approaches to approach youths in the state.

He said the right approach ought to be carried out so that youths are given the best surroundin­gs to showcase their respective capabiliti­es.

“We acknowledg­e that times have changes and the reality is that today’s youths like to express their feelings in their own way.

“This is one of the characteri­stics of today’s generation of youths who are always associated with creativity, innovation and being dynamic.”

During the event, Snowdan also announced a grant of RM10,000 for the organisati­on of the carnival.

M e a nwh i l e , S e r emb u assemblyma­n Miro Simuh said youth activities based on their hobbies and interests are more f lexible as they are not tied to formalitie­s and protocols.

“That is the significan­t change in the current youth movement as they do not want to be tied down by activities which are too formal and convention­al,” he observed.
