No compromise with misconduct, other offences — Police chief
KUCHING: Kuching district police chief ACP Ng Ah Lek said he would not compromise with misconduct and other offences committed by any member of the police force, especially the police station chiefs under his administration.
As the station chiefs are the front liners in serving the community, they must have high sense of integrity in carrying out their policing responsibilities effectively, refraining from abuse of power, corruption and misconduct; thus raising the community’s confidence in the force, he stressed.
“If they (station chiefs) have high integrity, good administration, no corruption, no abuse of power and so on, of course our policing affairs will be trusted by the community,” he said during the handing- over of duties as the Gita police station chief between ASP Omar Anis and Insp Gilbert Cinhin Simunga at the Kuching district police headquarters here yesterday.
According to Ng, the police image has been marred because some officials and personnel had abused their power, accepted bribes and by misconduct.
He hopes that the station chiefs will play a big role in their respective stations to serve the people and further enhance the police image among the community.
“If the station chiefs are able to manage and administrate well and efficiently, we can gain the confidence from the community and restore the force’s good image,” he said.
